After a significant enough change, you might be prompted to enter the product key, but I've never been forced to buy a new copy just because I did whatever I pleased with my PC. I've owned X-Plane 10, 11, and now 12 bought directly from the X-Plane website, and have used them across multiple versions of Linux (back in my dual boot days, I even had XP10 installed on both Linux and Windows without issue), through numerous hardware upgrades, including full motherboard and CPU swaps, and even changing physical locations due to moving and getting a new IP address from my local internet service provider. It's not that restrictive. The one from the website is limited to " one computer" while the steam version isn't. I don't think I'm missing any features by not getting it from Steam. I bought XP11 from the official stores years ago. Originally posted by Memnoch:I don't thinks Steam offers much for XP.
